There has been much confusion lately as to how much it REALLY costs to send a letter in and out of Mauritania. Here are the real prices, and don't let your not-so-friendly neighborhood postal worker tell you any differently.

Le prix des boites postales sur toute l'étendue du pays est de 5.000UM/AN pour les particuliers et 30.000 UM/AN pour les entreprises et Organisations.
Le particulier reçoit du courrier dans sa boite postale, mais quand il s'agit d'un paquet, un avis est déposé pour l'informer de passer récupérer son paquet au guichet de la poste.
Pour recevoir les paquets directement dans sa boite, il faut opter pour la boite postale à 30.000 UM/AN.
